Education and Skills written question – answered at on 13 June 2007.
To ask the Secretary of State for Education and Skills what the projected total cost is to the public purse of the interest subsidy paid to the debt sale owners over the lifetime of the student loans which the Government proposes to sell.
We are at the early stages of implementing the Budget announcement to sell income-contingent student loans. Further details about the sale will be announced in due course. We are confident that the Government will obtain good value for money, as it is obliged to do by rules of Government accounting.
