To ask the Chancellor of the Exchequer what estimate he has made of the number of homes built during 2006 which would have been eligible to be exempt from stamp duty as being zero carbon.

No data exist on the exact number of homes built in 2006 that would meet the qualifying criteria set out in the Budget for zero carbon homes. As set out in the Budget, the relief will help to kick start the market for new highly efficient technologies in homes. The Government's aim is that within a decade all new homes will be zero carbon.
