The Waterways Trust is an independent charitable trust that runs three Waterways Museums, including the one at Gloucester. The Museums, Libraries and Archives Council has provided substantial support and advice to the Waterways Trust and Museums which could help them to realise their potential to support learning and community activities.

As with other independent museums, it is for the trustees of the Waterways Museums to identify the most appropriate business model to secure their financial viability and the preservation of their collections. My Department has no plans to provide funding for the Waterways Museums.
