The Department for Communities and Local Government strategy "Sustainable Communities: Homes for All" supported increased investment in homelessness prevention, from £60 million in 2005-06 to £74 million in 2007-08 for homelessness prevention grants for local authorities and the voluntary sector. £47.2 million of this has been allocated to local authorities, which will be used to fund Sanctuary Schemes and other homelessness prevention schemes.
