The Coronation Oath Act 1688, the Act of Settlement 1701, the Acts of Union 1707 and the Accession Declaration Act 1910 have provisions that prevent Roman Catholics or those married to Roman Catholics from accession to the Throne. The Government currently have no plans to bring forward legislation on this issue.
