Education and Skills written question – answered at on 30 October 2006.
To ask the Secretary of State for Education and Skills how many pupils who received the Education Maintenance Allowance did not gain an A-level qualification in each year since 2004.
holding answer
EMA was only rolled out nationally from September 2004. It will soon be possible to investigate the impact of the national roll-out of EMA on attainment up to level 3 (A levels and equivalent), as many of that first 16 year old cohort have now gained qualifications. Their first major set of qualifications results will be available in December 2006 and the LSC will commission analysis of the achievement data at this point—the results are expected in summer 2007.
