So the MoD doesn't know how many firearms have been stolen from its bases? As they don't seem to feel it's important, the answer is probably "a lot".

Considering the appallingly large number of laptops that the MOD seems capable of losing I'm surprised they don't turn up to work to find the base has been stolen. Again, this would seem to be a catch all response to information that they don't want to release. How difficult would it be to ask the MOD
a) Do they have this information?
b) If not, why not?
c) If yes, how difficult would it be to provide this information?
All guns and ammunition must be checked in and out of MOD armories, and as such must be logged. That at least should be a figure that can be obtained with relatively little effort or expense.
