To ask the Secretary of State for Health how much her Department has spent on campaigns to warn teenagers of the risks of smoking in 2005-06; and if she will make a statement.

In 2005-06, the Department spent £4.32 million on a campaign targeting young adult smokers (including 16 to 18-year-olds) emphasising the negative effects smoking has on them now; that is for young women—their looks, for young men—the risk of impotence.
