To ask the Secretary of State for Environment, Food and Rural Affairs what his Department's total expenditure to date has been on the new technologies element of the waste implementation programme; what the projected total budget is for the programme; and how many new technology plants it is estimated will be funded.

The waste implementation programme's new technologies workstream has a budget of £42 million over five years. To date, the expenditure has been £6.74 million.

It is expected that nine technology plants will be built under the Demonstrator programme.
