A research review 'The Impact of Overcrowding on Health and Education: A Review of the Evidence and Literature, the Office of the Deputy Prime Minister, 2004' found some indication that there is a relationship between overcrowding and children's educational attainment, and between overcrowding and children's social and emotional development. However, the research evidence on the effects of overcrowding is limited and often confounded by other factors, such as poverty.
