To ask the Secretary of State for Trade and Industry if he will bring forward proposals to strengthen the protection afforded by the Communications Act 2003 against spam.

We have no plans to amend the Communications Act 2003 in this regard. The provisions of the Privacy of Electronic Communications Regulations 2003 will be reviewed in the context of the current review of the overarching regulatory framework for electronic communications in the European Union.
