To ask the Secretary of State for Work and Pensions how many claims under the Vaccine Damage Payment Act 1979 were made in each year since 2000; and how many were successful.

The number of claims received and successful payments made under the Vaccine Damage Payments Act 1979, in each financial year since April 2000 is as follows:

What a pathetic number of payouts, as good as nothing, and it is highlighted by the fact the USA awards 1 in 4, and that 4 is only 1% of the real figure if that.

Lack of info stops many applying for compensation via this Vaccine Damage Payment Act . My mother was given the rubella jab when she was expecting me which resulted in deafness. Shame I didnt know about this Vaccine Damage Payment Act before I was 21. 21 years too late to claim now.
War veterans quite rightly got compensation many years after getting disabled. How about similar rules for vaccine damage, after all these disabilities must be recorded by the GPs etc during a vaccine damaged's childhood.
How many vaccine damaged children will be aware of this act before the age of 21?

I am a nurse and was told that I had no coverage to Mumps during my Occupational Health exam. I became very ill within 4 weeks of receiving the MMR and now I am classed Disabled. I am no longer able to work. I applied for the Vaccine Damage Payment and was declined because I was over the age of 18. Other consideration is if I received the Rubella injection or if there was an out break of these diseases. Now, Is the MMR not the Measles, Mumps and Rubella vaccine? How can they justify no consideration on my claim because I did not recieve the rubella vaccine? I could understand this if I was able to get the single mumps vaccine but this is not offered in the UK. When you are declined consideration for this claim with a statement that I did not receive the Rubella vaccine when in fact I did, no wonder why the payouts in the UK are pathetic.
