Foreign and Commonwealth Affairs written question – answered at on 11 May 2006.
To ask the Secretary of State for Foreign and Commonwealth Affairs what recent assessment she has made of Israel's compliance with the Non-Proliferation Treaty.
Israel is not a signatory to the Non-Proliferation Treaty and is therefore not required to be in compliance with it. However, Israel has a site-specific safeguards agreement with the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) which gives the IAEA access to certain nuclear sites for monitoring.
