To ask the Secretary of State for the Home Department what recent discussions he has had with the Criminal Law Revision Committee on the issue of anonymity for the accused prior to conviction in sex offence cases.

The work of the Criminal Law Revision Committee has been superseded by the Law Commission. The Home Secretary has had no recent discussions with the Law Commission about anonymity for the accused prior to conviction in sex offence cases.

Secretary of State was originally the title given to the two officials who conducted the Royal Correspondence under Elizabeth I. Now it is the title held by some of the more important Government Ministers, for example the Secretary of State for Foreign Affairs.
