asked Her Majesty's Government:

What is their assessment of the Audit Commission's procedures for handling complaints; how many complaints have been referred to the Audit Commission over the past three years; and how these complaints were resolved.

The Audit Commission is an independent body and its complaints procedure is not a matter for government assessment but is an operational matter for the Audit Commission. I will ask the chief executive to write to the noble Lord and to ensure the answer is made available to the House.
