To ask the Minister of State, Department for Constitutional Affairs if the Government will take steps to lessen the differences in the number of people in each parliamentary constituency.

The Parliamentary Boundary Commissions review parliamentary boundaries every 8 to 12 years. The Boundary Commissions take into account the electoral quota, in addition to factors such as geographical and community matters. The Boundary Commission for England is currently conducting its General Review and is required to submit its report to Parliament by April 2007.
