Trade and Industry written question – answered at on 14 December 2005.
To ask the Secretary of State for Trade and Industry what form of public consultation will take place as part of the review he has announced into Sunday trading laws; and whether he expects the review will take evidence from the public.
We will be consulting widely and considering the views of all interested parties, including members of the public, before any decisions are taken. Ministerial colleagues and officials are actively discussing with stakeholders and inviting views and-evidence on the issue. Officials have also commissioned a cost benefit analysis of the case for further liberalisation from independent consultants, which will be published.
