To ask the Secretary of State for the Home Department how many police investigations into institutional abuse have taken place since 1995; when each (a) commenced and (b) concluded; how many people have been arrested as a result of such investigations; how many complainants have been involved; how many cases have been forwarded to the Crown Prosecution Service; in how many cases charges have been brought; and what the result has been in each case where all proceedings have been completed.
The information requested is not held centrally by the Home Office and could be obtained only at disproportionate cost. Information provided previously to the Home Affairs Select Committee was supplied by the Association of Chief Police Officers (ACPO).
