asked Her Majesty's Government:

What steps they have taken, and propose to take, to counter fraud and corruption in European Union expenditure programmes during the United Kingdom presidency.

The United Kingdom presidency has initiated discussions on an integrated control framework which would improve financial control of the budget by the Commission and member states, and so reduce the opportunities for fraud and corruption. We hope to agree conclusions at ECOFIN in November.
