To ask the Deputy Prime Minister what representations he has received about reform of the Local Government Ombudsman over the last 12 months; and if he will make a statement.

The Office has received around 50 representations relating to the work of the Local Government Ombudsman over the past 12 months. We do not keep records of the precise nature of the representations received. This information could be provided only at disproportionate cost.

Disproportionate costs? Do not keep records? You could copy all 50 representations to the MP for just a few pounds. What a stupid response. In any event why are you not keeping records?

Phil, are you being serious? You said "We do not keep records of the precise nature of the representations received." Does that mean you don't read them, or you read them and bin them, or you read them and wonder how to fob them off? Can we see them all with a simple Freedom of Information request?

You've evaded a question about the LGO before http://www.theyworkforyou.com/wrans/?id=2005-10-10d.16437.h&...
and before that

This is the third time you've stonewalled a question about your pals at the Ombudsman - are you part of their good news media strategy? Ombudsmanwatch at http://ombudsmanwatch.org/ seem to know more about this than you do.

Mr Woolas, I became a member of LGOWatch http://www.ombudsmanwatch.org because like many other citizens of this Country, I found the Local Government Ombudsman, in many ways worse than the Councils we where making the complaint about. The LGO has a lot of power, one could reasonably expect such a body to use due diligence in investigating complaints, instead we find that the LGO will accept the word of an Officer of a Council, even when the complainant provides the LGO with Documentary evidence disproving said Officer. The LGO is a form of Court but it allows Council Officers to routinely Perjure themselves without question. The LGO is a National disgrace, as is the complicity of the Government in perpetuating the corrupt system of the LGO. As is your reply to Anne Milton MP. There is nothing Lawful, Fair or Open about the LGO, it is a Kangaroo Court, and replies such as yours make you complicit in it's continuation.
Kevin Rendel.

Hi from Colin Cole . . . I'm one of the very few lucky ones . . . The Local Government Ombudsman found in my favour . . . Croydon Council GUILTY of maladministration . . http://www.croydoncouncil.info/page14.html . . and I got an apology from said Council http://www.croydoncouncil.info/page27.html
OK . . I admit it . . it's my own site http://www.croydoncouncil.info a very irreverent site . . with lots of content against corruption.
As you can imagine I'm very pleased with the result . . OH NO I'M NOT . . I agree with Kevin . . "I found the Local Government Ombudsman, in many ways worse than the Councils we where making the complaint about." . . and from my own site . . . . "Let’s be clear here. The above letter in effect finds LBC GUILTY of maladministration. But it totally ignores the fact that LBC planning officers lied on the pre planning reports. It totally ignores the fact that LBC granted planning permission on the basis of falsified plans. It totally ignores the fact that LBC failed to inform us (or any other of the flats) of impending planning change or that they falsified documents to cover that up. It totally ignores the fact that LBC planning officers conspired with the owners and tenant of the shop downstairs, to allow them to install a sub standard, dangerous and noxious flue (top of page) just because I refused to allow them to run it properly to the roof."

. . . And it goes on and on for 30 pages of website . . . but take the time to visit my own effort to support sites like this one and http://www.ombudsmanwatch.org . . my own LGO Links page with my comments http://www.croydoncouncil.info/page22.html . ."Colin’s LINKS page . . . . this is my attempt to assemble some good links about Corrupt Council’s . . Lazy Local Authorities . . . And their stooges at The Local Government Ombudsman" . . and if you get time to click a few of the ads for me that would be nice too . . it will help pay for my 7 other sites. . . . Colin
