To ask the Secretary of State for Education and Skills
(1) what percentage of paper for printed publications used by the Department in 2003–04 and 2004–05 was from recycled sources; how much post-consumer waste this paper contained; and if she will make a statement;
(2) what percentage of (a) copying paper and (b) paper for printed publications used by her Department in (i) 2003–04 and (ii) 2004–05 was from recycled sources; and how much post-consumer waste this paper contained.
In 2003–04, the Department used 17.38 per cent. (8.8 per cent. for direct comparison with 2004–05) recycled paper for copying containing 80 per cent. post-consumer waste. In 2004–05, the Department used 8.5 per cent. recycled paper for copying containing 75 per cent. post-consumer waste.
In 2003–04, the Department used 0.3 per cent. recycled paper for printed publications containing 75 per cent. post-consumer waste.
In 2004–05, the Department used 0.5 per cent. recycled paper for printed publications containing 60 per cent. post-consumer waste.
