asked Her Majesty's Government:

How many (a) consultants, (b) civil servants, and (c) secondees are currently working on the development and procurement phases of the identity card scheme.

As at end of May 2005, the identity cards programme team comprised 43 civil servants and contracted staff, 62 consultants and one secondee. All figures are full time equivalent.
