To ask the Secretary of State for Work and Pensions how many and what percentage of pensioner households in Scotland are in receipt of pension credit.

At 31 March 2005, 280,795 pensioner households in Scotland were in receipt of pension credit. This figure represents approximately 37 percent., of the total number of households in Scotland with at least one member aged 60 or over, based on data from the 2001 Census.

Notes:

1. The number of pension credit households is rounded to the nearest five.

2. Census data on pensioner households in Scotland obtained from the General Register Office for Scotland.
