To ask the Secretary of State for the Home Department how many complaints under active investigation by the Independent Police Complaints Commission are (a) less than one-year-old, (b) one to three years old, (c) three to five years old and (d) over five years old; and if he will make a statement.

The Independent Police Complaints Commission (IPCC) is responsible for the managements of the police complaints system. I will ensure that the Chairman receives a copy of the question and replies to you directly. Copies of the letter containing the IPCC's response will be placed in the House Libraries.
