To ask the Chancellor of the Exchequer how many properties in England and Wales on which stamp duty was levied at a rate of one per cent. were sold at between £60,000 and £120,000 in each year since 2000; and how many of these properties were sold to first time buyers in each year.

Estimates of the number of residential properties selling for between £60,000 and £120,000 in England and Wales, on which stamp duty was levied at 1 per cent. are given in the following table for 2000 to 2003 inclusive. Estimates for 2004 will be available later in the year.

It is not possible to provide this information for first time buyers.
