To ask the Secretary of State for Health what methodology was used to calculate the estimate of £180 million to compensate those who did not receive NHS Continuing Care.

Additional funding was provided for continuing care on the basis of information provided to the Department by strategic health authorities after an assessment by primary care trusts of the likely level of local claims.
