Foreign and Commonwealth Affairs written question – answered at on 14 March 2005.
To ask the Secretary of State for Foreign and Commonwealth Affairs whether his Department gave evidence to the Volcker investigation into the Iraq Oil for Food scandal.
The Government fully support the work of the Independent Inquiry Committee (IIC) led by Paul Volcker set up by the UN Secretary-General to investigate the administration and management of the Oil for Food Programme. The Government is co-operating fully with the IIC's investigations and to date nine former or serving Foreign and Commonwealth Office (FCO) officials have given evidence. We have also released hundreds of FCO documents requested by the IIC and continue to review our records for further documents of relevance to their investigations.
