To ask the Secretary of State for Trade and Industry if she will require the prevailing rate of the national minimum wage to be printed on pay slips.

The question has been considered but rejected because it would add considerable costs for business.

Secretary of State

Secretary of State was originally the title given to the two officials who conducted the Royal Correspondence under Elizabeth I. Now it is the title held by some of the more important Government Ministers, for example the Secretary of State for Foreign Affairs.
