To ask the Secretary of State for Health what the cost was of each stage of the Shipman Inquiry, broken down by main budget headings; and what the cost was of legal fees paid to each party represented.

It is not possible to provide details of the cost of each stage of the Shipman Inquiry, but expenditure for the Inquiry as a whole up to the end of January 2005 is shown in the tables.
