To ask the Secretary of State for Scotland how much has been spent on congestion (a) charges and (b) penalty charge notices by the Department since the commencement of the congestion charging scheme.

The Scotland Office has incurred no expenditure on congestion charges or penalty charge notices. Costs incurred by vehicles provided by the Government Car Service (GCS) to the Scotland Office are paid by the GCS. I refer the hon. Member to the answer given by my hon. Friend the Minister for the Cabinet Office on 10 January 2005, Hansard, columns 89–90W.
