To ask the Secretary of State for the Home Department how many day releases there have been from London prisons during the last 12 months.

In the period 1 December 2003 to 30 November 2004 there were 50,625 day releases (known officially as Release on Temporary Licence) from London prisons, as recorded on the Prison Service central IT system.
