To ask the Secretary of State for Health what recent assessment he has made of bed blocking in hospitals located in the Southwark Primary Care Trust area; and if he will make a statement.
Figures for the second quarter of 2003–04 show the total number of patients delayed in an acute hospital bed on any one day, within the Southwark Primary Care Trust area, is eight. This represents a reduction of 75 per cent., compared with the same time last year.
