To ask the Secretary of State for the Home Department for what reasons the number of prisoners serving short sentences has increased.
Changes in the number of prisoners serving short sentences are affected by custody rates, average sentence lengths, the number of people sentenced, and seasonal factors such as the reduction in the number of court sitting days over bank holiday periods.
