To ask the Secretary of State for Foreign and Commonwealth Affairs pursuant to the answer of 26 October 2004, Official Report, column 1177W, on Iraq, what factors obstructed verification of the 45 minute claim between the start of the US-led administration in Iraq and the publication of (a) the Hutton report and (b) the Butler report.

The validation of human intelligence sources is described in Chapter 5.9 of Lord Butler's report. The report commended SIS for the thoroughness with which it had sought to validate these sources after the war. These matters have been examined during the course of the Butler Review and other inquiries, and covered during debates and statements on Iraq.
