To ask the Secretary of State for Health pursuant to the answer of 5 March 2004, Official Report, column 1160W, on cholesterol, if he will estimate the prevalence of raised blood cholesterol in (a) men and (b) women in England.
Figures available from the Health Survey for England 1998 are shown in the table. In this survey, cholesterol was considered to be raised at a level of 6.5mmol/l or over.
