To ask the Secretary of State for Northern Ireland how many individuals are awaiting the commencement of treatment with (a) beta interferon and (b) glatiramer for multiple sclerosis.

At 20 January 2004 there were 66 people awaiting the commencement of treatment with these medicines. The decision as to which medicine is appropriate is a matter for the patient's doctor, in consultation with the patient, when treatment is to begin.
