To ask the Secretary of State for Transport pursuant to his answer of 17 July 2003, Official Report, column 618W, on station improvements, if he will list the stations where improvements are (a) taking place and (b) being considered.

Further to the answer I gave to the hon. Gentleman of 17 July: at Table 1 is a list of the Strategic Rail Authority's Rail Passenger Partnership (RPP) schemes that include station improvements and which have been approved for RPP funding. Table 2 lists a further 68 stations that are being considered by the Authority under its Modern Facilities at Stations Scheme (MFAS). The SRA and Network Rail are currently developing a schedule of work for the stations included in the programme. The timetable has yet to be finalised. Table 3 is a list of schemes in Scotland. Some of these are funded through RPP and some through the Incremental Outputs Statements scheme (IOS). In other cases new stations are also being provided as part of a wider project.
