asked Her Majesty's Government:

Whether they will ensure that consumer goods that comply with the European Union directive on medical devices are also subject to the Furniture and Furnishings (Fire) (Safety) Regulations 1998.

Products placed on the market as medical devices must meet the requirements, including those related to flammability, of the Medical Devices Directive (transposed in the United Kingdom by the Medical Devices Regulations 2002).
