House of Lords written question – answered on 16th July 2003.
asked Her Majesty's Government:
Whether they will enforce the law if attempts are made to use the eggs of aborted unborn babies in fertility treatments.
The use in fertility treatment of eggs taken from an aborted fetus is prohibited in the United Kingdom under Section 3A of the Human Fertilisation and Embryology Act 1990. The Government will require the law to be enforced should any attempt be made to breach the Act.
