To ask the President of the Council

(1) how many times the House of Lords Appointments Commission has met in the last 12 months;

(2) what the annual cost is of running the House of Lords Appointments Commission.

The House of Lords Appointments Commission has met twice in the past year.

The estimated cost in the financial year 2002–03 was approximately £120,000.
