To ask the Secretary of State for Transport, Local Government and the Regions if he will make statement on the SRA's responsibility for providing electrical power.

Railtrack together with the electricity generating industry are responsible for the supply of electrical power to railways. The Strategic Rail Authority has a primary role in evaluating the case for new investment in railways which may include the choice of motive power.
