To ask the Secretary of State for Environment, Food and Rural Affairs what audit procedures are undertaken on authorised contractors to the Ministry of Agriculture, Fisheries and Food who are retained on contracts to cleanse and disinfect foot and mouth affected premises.

Authorised contractors to DEFRA retained on contracts to cleanse and disinfect foot and mouth affected premises have their services and charges subjected to audit and review by clerks of works, quantity surveyors and forensic accountants engaged by DEFRA.
