Mr. David Atkinson asked the Secretary of State for Defence if he is satisfied that the Soviet Union is abiding by the 1967 outer space treaty concerning the deployment of nuclear weapon carrying objects in orbit.

Mr. Blaker: Yes. We have no reason to believe that any State has placed nuclear weapons in orbit or stationed such weapons in outer space in any manner.
