Mr. Bidwell asked the Prime Minister if she authorised the expulsion of Victor Lazine, second secretary in the embassy of the Union of Soviet Socialist Republics for involvement with people concerned with riots in the United Kingdom; and if she will make a statement.

The Prime Minister: The Government declared Mr. V. N. Lazine persona non grata because he had engaged in activities incompatible with his diplomatic status. Press reports of a connection between him and disturbances in the United Kingdom were without foundation. The interests of our security would not be served by disclosing further details of the case.
