Mr. Arthur Lewis asked the Lord President of the Council whether he will propose that hon. Members should receive allowances on the same scales as Members of the European Assembly.

Mr. Pym: No. As the hon. Member has been advised in the past, it would not be appropriate to recompense Members of Parliament for their expenses on a basis determined by, and appropriate for, service in another parliamentary body.
