Mr. Colvin asked the Minister of Agriculture, Fisheries and Food whether he intends to increase the minimum penalties for the sale to the public of unfit meat.

Mrs. Fenner: It is the Government's intention that the maximum penalties permitted under a large number of Acts, including the Food and Drugs Act 1955, should be updated as soon as a legislative opportunity arises.
