The Department for Work and Pensions is establishing an In-Work Progression Commission in order to increase its evidence base and support policy development on helping people to progress in work. The Commission will define the barriers individuals and groups face to progressing and moving into higher paid work. It will advise Government on how to support individuals to overcome these barriers. To inform the work of the Commission, a call for evidence will seek examples from employers and the third sector about what makes a difference in helping people to progress.
The work will be led by Baroness McGregor-Smith and supported by an advisory panel and officials in the Department for Work and Pensions. It will report to the me in the coming months.
