Parliamentary approval for additional resources of £1,500,000,000 will be sought in a Supplementary Estimate for the Department for Work and Pensions. Pending that approval, urgent expenditure estimated at £1,500,000,000 will be met by a repayable cash advance from the Contingencies Fund.

This is not a request for additional funding but is to meet the Department’s cash requirements pending Royal Assent of the Supplementary Estimate 2019-20 and will enable the Department to continue to deliver an effective welfare system for our citizens.
