The National Lottery Bill, which is currently before Parliament, will establish the Big Lottery Fund as a new lottery distributing body, replacing three of the existing distributing bodies, the Community Fund, the New Opportunities Fund and the Millennium Commission. We consider there are strong reasons of public interest to begin the process of recruiting the board of the Big Lottery Fund while the Bill is still before Parliament. Parliamentary approval for additional resources of £33,200 for this new service will be sought in the main estimate for the Department for Culture, Media and Sport. Pending that approval, urgent expenditure estimated at £33,200 will be met by repayable cash advances from the Contingencies Fund.
