On 5 December 2005, I informed the House that I had issued for consultation a provisional police finance settlement for 2006–07 giving indicative grant increases for that year and for 2007–08. The consultation period closed on 11 January. I intend to lay before the House shortly the Police Grant Report (England and Wales) 2006–07 which will establish the amounts of Police Grant to be paid to police authorities in 2006–07 and the basis of their distribution.
